A message from the Show Committee
Well,
FINALLY.....we were able to hold a show....at least we were able to hold all
the pleasure classes in May. The weather continued to worsen throughout the
day, and with safety in mind the show committee decided to cancel the game
classes. Even with a cold, windy, rainy day we ended up with just under 300
entries.
We also had 10 new families at our 1st show. WELCOME. We are so excited that
we continue to grow.
The show committee recently met to discuss a few items. The first of which
was concerning game classes that were cancelled in May. The committee decided
that May game classes WOULD NOT be made up, and that the credit would be
applied to the June show (or the next show attended). The next issue that was
a big concern was having open checks at the sign in table. We decided in the
best interest for all, we would no longer allow this. It is simply too time
consuming finding the people who have not yet paid, making sure no one has
left without settling up when the show is over. So, please just be ready to
pay for your day of showing at the beginning of the day.
We are also going to have each member fill out a summary sheet for the day.
The summary sheet should match up with your entry forms. This will be a
little extra work on your part...but this will make things run much more
smoothly throughout the day for the entry booth and announcer. The summary
sheet will be available on the website soon. To make things a little less
stressful on yourselves, try filling out your forms the day before the show.
The entry booth will be set up a little differently also, first, you will be
"checked in", looking for memberships, highpoints, sponsors, and
making sure entries are correct, then you will move on to Rachael, she will
take your money and file your forms. The first show will be a little
confusing, and may take a little more time, but should help in catching any
mistakes that may happen.
The last thing discussed was concerning the Saddle type classes, there has
been some confusion over who can show where ect....to simplify this we simply
added a Saddle Type rule (kind of like the novice rule). Horses entered as
Saddle Type can not enter age division classes EXCEPT classes 5,6,7,8,9,20,21
and game classes. Hopefully this will help clear up any confusion. The show bill has also been updated with
all the new information, so please check it out!
The remaining show season will take place at North
Park in Harrisonville. Please pass this info on to others that maybe
interested. As fuel prices continue to rise, we will see our shows continue
to grow, as several people are not "hauling" to various show
circuits. I have received several emails from people interested in our club,
because we are "local". Please welcome these new families!!
The Training Center cook shack was a huge success!!! Even with the miserable
weather, they faired very well, please continue to support this organization.
Greg Richardson will be our announcer for the show season...we are so glad to
have him....If you don't know Greg, stop by and say "Hi", he will
become a familiar face this year.
Well, the show season is FINALLY underway....this should be a great
year.......See you in July
Also if you have suggestions or comments I urge you
to attend our monthly meetings on the second Thursday of the month. The only
way to be heard is to attend those meetings!
See you at the next show!

The PTSC Horse
Shows are the largest function of the club.
PTSC
Horse Shows are held on the 2nd Saturday of June through September and on
October 4th. Our shows consist of
judged classes and timed running events.
The arena gates will be open at 7 am, the entry booth will open at 8
am, and the shows start at 9 am. Rain
dates will not be rescheduled. If a
show is rained out we will double-judge Performance events only during the
next show. The Running events will not
be rescheduled. In the case of
inclement weather, the Show Committee will try to make a cancellation
decision as soon as possible before a show and inform PTSC members.
The “Call Before You Haul” number is 816-289-8078.
Our shows have become nothing short of legendary among local equine
enthusiasts and are very carefully balanced so that a professional can
practice before a major event or an amateur can compete without either of
feeling out of place. Judges are
notified of allowances for attire and tack and weather conditions. This takes away some of the professional
advantage and allows anyone to compete on an even playing field with horses
of almost any caliber. Children are
an important part of our day. That
includes 3-year-old lead line kids or the teenagers that rule the game
classes. Rules are rules when it
comes to safety issues, but we try hard to give all kids the opportunity to
enjoy the show.
You don’t have to be a member to take part in the shows although non-members
will be charged a higher entry fee.
Of course, non-members are invited to join PTSC at your first show!

The widest
assortment of classes you will find at any local show.
A full
assortment of Performance classes are offered such as a Halter class for the
young horses, Western Pleasure, English Pleasure and Equitation, Cross Rail
Hunter, Horsemanship, Showmanship, Jack Benny-Mae West, Trail Under Saddle,
and an Open Ranch Trail with an 80% payback.
The Running events include Barrel Racing, Poles, Flag Race, and Reverse
Keyhole. Each class is divided into
age groups of 12 and under, 13 to 18, and 19 and over and our new Novice
classes for all ages. We also have age 7 and under classes in Lead-line and
Horsemanship for our youngest riders.
This gives every exhibitor the chance to compete against his or her
own age group or experience level.
We have added ten Walk-Trot Novice Classes in all the events for novice
riders and five classes for Saddle Type horses (horses with a gait or a
non-stock horses conformation). A
rotating class with a varying format will be announced at each show. Check
the Show Bill for more information.
The show committee will interpret and enforce all class rules. Any announcements made the day of the show
supersede any written communication.
All judge’s decisions are final.
Class placements and times announced during the shows are subject to a
final verification when the entry tickets are reviewed for entry into our
scoring system.
